Around the world in 7 days.. Day 2.. France

Day 2 is here.. We have left the good old USA, and we have headed to France!

We started the day with one of my favourite breakfasts.. and a breakfast I remember having on a school trip to France when I was around 11 years old. Croissants with a variety of spreads, and a nice hot cup of hot chocolate.. I told the kids the French like to dip it in the hot chocolate (I dont know if this is factually correct 🤣 I just remember them telling me to do so when I was in France all them many moons ago!) My boy Dylan, loved that, my girls, not so much, but one thing is for sure.. they all loved the breakfast! Dylan said to me, “I wish we lived in France so we could have this for breakfast every day!”

After breakfast, (and after speeding through the homeschooling) Dylan gave the girls a French lesson.. You’re a great teacher Dylan! And they all enjoyed learning how to speak French 😊

For lunch we had Croque Madam and Croque Monsieur.. Yum! And a lovely voice note from our favourite Frenchie, Manue. 😊

For dinner we also had one of my favourite dinners! (Well some of it anyway..)

For the starter we had pate and escargot. It was the first time trying snails for the kids.. (I cant stand them! Hubby loves them!) .. it didn’t go down well 🤣🤣 I told them they were like French mussels (as they love mussels!) .. I did fess up after and told them they were snails.. Daisy, my 5 year old, was very unhappy with me.. she shouted “why would you let me eat snails!!!” Luckily she has forgiven me now though.. For the main course, my favourite, Duck a’lorange with potato dauphinoise and French beans. And for dessert we had creme brulee, (I wanted to make it but ran out of time so shop bought it was), still delish tho.. and later on the kids had a pan Au chocolate.

The French definitely know their food! Without doubt one of my fave cuisines, and I have lots of fond memories of delicious French restaurants I’ve visited here in the UK and France.

After dinner we went to Disneyland Paris.. the kids were feeling brave and went on a few of the roller coasters, went to the Frozen experience and then we visited the Eiffel Tower.. I have cut the videos for here, but we watched lots of virtual videos and spent a good couple of hours in the virtual world.. If you do anything, do this! Is was so easy to do, cost nothing and so realistic.. we all had a lot of fun!!

(All this is, is TV on the floor, dining chairs either side and a large blanket over the whole thing..)

And lastly, our photo album of all the fun places we visited on our one day, whirlwind tour, of France.. Enjoy!!

We have loved France! Its been a lot of fun! We hope you have enjoyed it too! We will be back tomorrow on Day 3 of our world tour.. Italy! 😊

Around the world in 7 days! Day 1.. The USA

So our adventure begins!

On the first day of our 7 day world tour.. we went to the good old USA!

We started off our day with a yummy American breakfast! Served buffet style of course! Pancakes with bacon, scrambled egg and a host of yummy sweet sauces!

We played in a New York Taxi.. and visited the 99th Precinct.. We even played at being NYPD cops!

We also did some virtual tours to different places in the USA.. I will post some links tomorrow.

For dinner we had an American feast! BBQ Ribs, chicken, steak, fries, mac n cheese, corn on the cob.. The kids (and us!) Loved it! We got super messy but who cares?! This food calls to be eaten with fingers! And of course.. s’mores for dessert!

After dinner we headed to the glitz and glam of Las Vegas! (I in no way promote gambling to my kids.. it was a bit of fun and they all won!) We headed to the roulette table and played until bed time!

In the afternoon we made our very own handprints, like at the Chinese theatre, and added our names in hollywood stars!

(To do this I bought plaster of paris from amazon, made according to instructions, poured into a plastic tub lid, waited about 10 minutes, then kids pressed their hands in! This isnt finished as I will paint it once it’s nice and dry! 😊

We took some silly photos earlier in the day, ready for me to (badly) photoshop the kids into different places in the usa! So enjoy!

I really hope you’ve enjoyed the first day of our world tour! It’s been a long, but very day.. need to go, got a flight to France to catch 😉

Excited to share this weeks project..

So I uploaded my first blog post earlier on today.. kind of as a practise to learn how to manoeuvre the website, add pics, etc etc..

But as a special treat to all of you.. this week, starting today, I am going to post this weeks project, every day..

We are going around the world in 7 days! Every day, for the next 7 days we will be visiting a new country.. from our living room!

We have had so much fun today, in the USA.. follow up blog post coming soon!

Carnival in the Garden

So last summer.. the summer of 2020.. (the dreaded, stuck at home year of 2020!) We decided to do a carnival in the garden.

Every year we try to get away, to Yarmouth, or somewhere on the English seaside, and as we wasnt able to do that in this year, we decided to try and bring a bit of that (mixed with a bit of fun fair) to our very own garden!

I made different stations with different carnival games, for the kids to play and win tickets. We also had a slush puppy station, and a popcorn station!

The games we did were:

RING TOSS.. Daddy and me had to drink a few beers, and a bottle of wine.. it was tough, but needs must! We then used some glow sticks as the rings.. made a little sign on picasrt.. and hey presto, ready to go!

CATCH A FISH.. My son just loves fishing and has many magnetic fishing sets.. so we popped some in the pool, with labels stuck to the underside with tape with differing number of tickets, and away they went.. you could also do this with hook a duck if you have ducks instead if fish 😊

BALL TOSS.. We had some mini inflatable drink holders (you can pick them up on amazon for around a fiver) and a couple of balls.. we also stuck labels at the bottom of these with differing number of tickets on them. Kids toss them into the hole to win those tickets.. (this one was hard! 🤣)

SHOOTING GALLERY.. I made and printed up some targets.. put them on some string in the garden.. and out came the nerf gun. You could also pop a bit of paint on the end of the bullet to see where you hit!

POP THE BALLOON.. For this, another printed sign.. on some cardboard (thanks amazon, have loads of that laying around!) Blew up, and stuck on the balloons (with ticket numbers behind), then, with a very closely watching adult stuck an open paperclip to the end of a nerf bullet, and we were open for business! (Just remember to take the paper clip off straight away as it will hurt if you get hit with one of those!)

Kids has loads of tickets, played all day long, and really had such a fun day! This was almost all made with a design app on my phone and printed out.. and then using what we had, or could get quite cheaply, to make the games!

Why not do your own carnival this year? We will do this again.. with different games so feel free to send me your ideas! 😊
